The Department of Mechanical Engineering offers optional areas for concentration, called degree specialties, for undergraduate students wishing to pursue specific interests within the broad discipline of mechanical engineering.
To specialize in a given area, students should take three to five courses in the area (beyond the required courses).
Students also have the opportunity to take courses in various specialization areas in other academic departments. Such courses will count toward non-mechanical engineering electives.
Specializations are not listed on diplomas.
